If the gun is an N-frame and has a checkered topstrap, then its a Model 27.The N refers to the frame size. The stainless steel version of the Model 29 is the Model 629 which came out in 1980. I assume the hammer and trigger on yours are case-hardened and the ejector is blued. If so, you have a nickel revolver from the factory.
